Singapore, 14 October 2026 – Dry conditions were observed over Singapore today. As at 4pm, the 1-hr PM2.5 concentration readings were 139 – 251 µg/m3, in (Band 2, Elevated / Band 4, Very High), and the 24-hr PSI was 118 – 168, in the Unhealthy range.
Update on Hotspot and Haze Situation
2 Dense smoke haze from fires in Kalimantan was observed to drift towards Singapore under the prevailing southeasterly winds. Smoke haze was also observed over Sumatra.
3 With prevailing southeasterly winds, the dense smoke haze is expected to continue drifting towards Singapore overnight and tomorrow. While some showers are forecast over Singapore and parts of the surrounding region tomorrow, dry conditions are expected to persist over parts of southern Sumatra and Kalimantan. The 24-hr PSI for Singapore is forecast to be in the Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy range.
Activity Guidelines
4 The health impact of haze is dependent on one’s health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity. For immediate outdoor activities, please check the 1-hr PM2.5 concentration readings and personal guide. Use the 24-hr PSI forecast and corresponding health advisories for planning next day outdoor activities.
Distribution of N95 masks to vulnerable Singaporeans
5 Given that PM2.5 levels have reached the Very High range and taking into consideration the possibility that the 24-hr PSI may enter the Very Unhealthy range, the Government has commenced the phased distribution of N95 masks to vulnerable Singaporeans through the People’s Association’s (PA) Community Clubs and haze mask vending machines at selected public transports hubs, Social Services Offices and PA venues.
6 N95 masks will be made available progressively at the designated collection points and may not be immediately available at all locations. The vending machines are being progressively deployed across the island from this evening and stocks at all collection points will be replenished progressively and regularly.
7 Members of the public can visit the HazeMaskGoWhere website (go.gov.sg/hazemask), developed by MSE in collaboration with GovTech Singapore and PA, for more information on the eligibility criteria, collection locations and live updates on mask availability at the vending machines. Members of the public are encouraged to check the website for availability before heading to a collection point.
8 The following eligible Singaporeans* can collect N95 masks (two pieces per pack) at the following locations using their NRICs, once masks become available at the respective collection points. They may also ask a family member or friend to collect the masks on their behalf using the eligible person’s NRIC.
9 With immediate effect, the following persons may collect masks at Community Clubs or vending machines at selected public transport hubs, Social Service Offices and PA venues with their NRICs:
- Pioneer Generation (PG)
- Merdeka Generation (MG)
- CHAS Orange card holder
- CHAS Blue card holder
- Medical Fee Exemption Card (MFEC) holder
- Recipients of ComCare Assistance
10 With immediate effect, the following persons may collect masks at Community Clubs with their NRICs:
- Pregnant women
- Children (7 – 16 years old)
- Individuals with medical conditions (e.g. asthma)
Availability of masks in retail stores
11 While N95 masks may be temporarily unavailable at some retail outlets due to increased demand, there are sufficient stocks of N95 masks in retailers’ warehouses and government stockpiles. As part of ongoing haze preparedness efforts, The Haze Task Force (HTF) is working closely with retailers to replenish stocks and ensure the availability of N95 masks to the public.
Who should wear N95 masks?
12 Reducing outdoor activities and physical exertion can help limit the ill effects from haze exposure. Healthy individuals who need to be outdoors for several hours when the forecast air quality is in the hazardous range (PSI >300) may reduce exposure by wearing an N95 mask with a good fit.
13 Vulnerable persons such as the elderly, pregnant women and individuals with chronic heart or lung disease may wear an N95 mask to reduce exposure when the air quality forecast is in the Very Unhealthy range (PSI >200) and if they must be outdoors for several hours.
14 However, the elderly, pregnant women and those with severe lung or heart problems who have difficulty breathing at rest or on exertion should consult their doctor before using an N95 mask. Any person who feels discomfort when using an N95 mask should take a break from using the mask.
Haze Shelters at Community Clubs and Residents’ Committee Centres
15 Air-conditioned rooms in Community Clubs (CCs) and selected Residents’ Committee (RC) and Residents’ Network (RN) Centres will be set up as haze shelters. Members of the public can seek respite from the haze at these haze shelters.
16 Residents may contact their nearest CCs on the operating hours and location of the Haze Shelter. If the 24-hr PSI crosses into the Hazardous range, the opening hours of the haze shelters in the CCs will be extended to 10pm.

Areas with lighter smoke haze are not indicated as they cannot be clearly discerned from satellite imagery. The full extent of the hotspot and smoke haze situation could not be determined due to cloud cover.
